- Moving validation before the payout
- More control before funds move
Discover how Betsson uses Prometeo's Bank Account Verification to independently validate beneficiary accounts and secure gaming payouts in Argentina and beyond.
For gaming operators, approving a withdrawal is only one part of the payout process. There is another important question before funds move: does the destination bank account actually belong to the intended beneficiary?
For Betsson, one of the world’s established online gaming and betting companies, answering that question previously depended on its payout partners.
That created an operational dependency. Betsson needed a way to validate bank accounts directly at the source, rather than relying exclusively on the provider responsible for routing the payment to the user.
Moving validation before the payout
With Prometeo’s Bank Account Verification, Betsson can validate a bank account and confirm beneficiary identity independently, before the payout is handed off to a payment partner.
The change gives Betsson its own validation layer inside the payout flow.
Instead of asking a payout partner whether an account is correct, the company can obtain that signal before payment execution begins.
As Carlos Portugal, LATAM Senior Payments Manager at Betsson, explains:
“Before Prometeo, we depended on our payout partners to tell us an account was good. Now we validate it ourselves before a payment ever moves, which means we’re not exposed if a partner’s process falls short.”
More control before funds move
Today, the solution is live at meaningful scale in Argentina, with expansion planned to Peru and additional markets.
For Betsson, the value is not about changing the payout provider. It is about separating payment execution from account verification and maintaining an independent layer of control before the transaction moves downstream.
This distinction is especially relevant for companies managing high volumes of payouts across multiple providers and markets, as transaction certainty starts to take shape before the funds are sent.
